Informational kiosks were installed in several community settings in Moncton and St. John throughout the month of November including: the Wild Cats, Blue Eagles and Sea Dogs hockey games, the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association Conference, The New Brunswick Health Research Foundation Conference and Bass Pro Shops. Educational and promotional materials were distributed to the public. People were also asked to spin a wheel and answer a question related to heart disease and mental health and win a gift card if they answered right.
On Saturday the 5th of November, MindtheHeart/CœurAl’Esprit project team organized a Mo Fun Race with the collaboration of the Running Room. Several companies sponsored the race such as Sobeys, Acadia Toyota, Cabela’s, Cox and Palmer, Crowne Plaza and Counter Tops. There were 100 racers and walkers on the day and prizes were distributed to race winners. Three radio stations, K94.5, Max 103.9 and Choix 99.9 promoted the event and covered it on the day of the race. CTV News Atlantic also did an interview with NB project Coordinator, Lise Gallant on the day of the race. Also, K94,5 did a radio interview with Dr. Jalila Jbilou about the project and the race.
On Tuesday the 8th of November 2016 a lunch and learn was organized at the Construction Association of New Brunswick. Ten managers and employees from construction companies in New Brunswick attended the event. Ms. Rana Sughayar, the project national coordinator, presented statistics about heart disease and mental health, the link of mental health and heart disease and strategies to manage these two illnesses. The vent was a success that the Association asked the team to present in one of their gala dinners at the end of 2017.
